Including Kids was founded in 2003 at a time when autism was reaching epidemic levels and there were very few services offered in the state of Texas. In response to the needs of the community and fueled by her passion for autism advocacy, Jennifer Dantzler and a loyal Board of Directors started the Including Kids Autism Center. They have created a full-time program that continues to change the lives of children and young adults with autism, offering them a chance to be included in the community. Today, Including Kids has served over one thousand families.

Humble Noon Lions Club Lends a Helping Hand

Thanks to a generous donation from the Humble Noon Lions Club in honor of Autism Awareness Month in April, Including Kids now has an entire shaping station (mobile dentist chair, hair washing station, hair cutting chair, phlebotomy chair, and all necessary supporting supplies and accessories) that will be used to help children and young adults with autism and developmental delays.

"Many children on the ASD Spectrum deal with stress, discomfort, and even fear in regards to many medical and dental procedures. Even something as simple as a trip to the salon can be intimidating. Through shaping, we can create opportunities for children to become comfortable with these procedures and activities in a familiar environment, which are vital life long-skills."

"Working on shaping with the kids is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Shaping provides life long skills that not only impact the child, they impact the family and the community. I try my best to make the process as realistic as possible, but sometimes that can be hard to do. With the wonderful items the Lions Club donation has allowed us to purchase, I can now continue to help the kids learn and grow! From real IV poles to functional hair washing sinks, this donation has allowed us to offer shaping at an even more in depth level, and all of our kids will benefit for years to come."
